The amber bit is just clipped in. Just carefully use some long needle nose pliers and break the tab off, then break the amber in half with the pliers and pull the pieces out of the bulb access hole.
I did it to my former '93 taillights, but I must admit they either looked as good as the '92s nor had the same light pattern, because the amber part is also a dispersing lens.

they are just plug'n'play, you put the connector in and all the lights work except for the fog lights, they need 2 additional wires you don't have in the plug. but you can wire them up to the brake or running lights.
