Dyno Day for Kleinkid--numbers
Today I am 55 years old. As a birthday present to my self, I had my car on the dyno at PDX this morning. At the wheels:
180HP, 211 TQ.
EDIT: http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8 ... iddyno.jpg
Mods that helped:
CES cross , up pipe, and TBE
255lph Walbro fuel pump
440cc injectors
VF-12+ turbo(Deadbolt)
'06 FXT IC
It's fun, I'm happy. Time for nappy.

Very cool! and happy Birthday!
Do you have a graph that you could post? Or maybe some data points for output (3000rpm = xxwhp/trq, etc...)
I'd think that my car is very close to yours in power levels as we have very similar mods. (mine = VF12 @ 12-13psi, CES TBE, Pulley, Custom A/W IC)
A couple questions for you:
1) What boost levels (peak and redline)?
2) Are you using some EM? (curious with the 440's)
3) Are there A/F readings that go with the graph (if there is a graph)
Great #'s, I bet (know
) it's fun

Wow - you made 180/211 @ 10psi! (Is that approx 240hp/260+ftlbs at the crank?
)
I can tell the VF12 likes more boost. It is a pretty big difference when going from 10psi -> 12/13psi and it seems to want to be closer to 15psi
damn, I need to get my leggy on the dyno
Any idle or drivability\ issues with the 440's and stock ecu?

correction factor
To approximately compute the crank horsepower, don't you multiply the "at the wheels number" by 1.22?
HP:180X1.22=219. TQ:211X1.22=257.
HP:180X1.22=219. TQ:211X1.22=257.
What if any benefit are you noticing from the 440cc injectors?

Thanks AA! Good perspective. i think i need some grey tops...
John, what kind of milage are you getting now? I know you've got a lead foot but in when you are blending into traffic?

Thank you all for the birthday kudos! A wideband itself will provide data, but has no ability to change fuel or anything else. It is my belief that the stock ECU has the capacity to use the 440cc injectors well enough. I will agree that some sort of additional EM would be optimum. Also, the injectors, with the VF-12 and IC combine well together. To isolate one of those components and say which one is a more effective part of the whole, would be difficult. As far as mpg, I have not computed it yet. I used to get 25-27 on the highway, it seems like now it might be 24-26, just a guess. In other words, no huge loss.
Remember I am at 10 psi, 14 is going to be lots of fun, I predict.
Guess I will have to get the printer manual out and see if I can get a copy into my computer. Challenging for me, because I never did figure out the VCR!

As all dyno's read differently, I would see what a stock WRX and or STi puts down on that dyno (and I hear that Mustang dynos read "low") and compare it with the rated Crank Hp/Trq. a few stock #'s would be best to get an average.
Not that I'm a dyno whore by any means, but I have seen stock STi's put down 225hp to the wheels, which gives a 1.33 multiplier (300/225) so 180 x 1.33 = 239bhp. And stock 2.0l wrx's 165hp, which gives a 1.37 multiplier so 180 x 1.37 = 246bhp
just fun with #'s - how it drives is what matters!!

Mustang dynos tend to read higher then other dynos.
Had my car dyno'd while still n/a on a mustang dyno, and the numbers seemed pretty damn good for n/a.
Then I had my car dyno'd on a dyno dynamics or something when it was turbo'd, and the numbers seemed low.
You can see what I'm talking about

hloy crap klein! With 10 psi you are hitting peak torque so low! I can only imagine what 14 will feel like. One thing I did notice, is that with a nice tune (from PDX, no less) you will have much smoother delivery, especially between 3200 and 5000 rpm. You can see how there are some drastic dips and peaks there. Under full throttle, can you feel the car spike and dip as you travel the whole range?
Kickin' it old-school.
You don't really feel it when you are driving the car. I replaced the harness side connector, and about six inches of wire, at the knock sensor connector, and put a new knock sensor in. That got rid of the CEL. Apparently four years ago when I changed the knock sensor, I torqued the bolt down too tight, my guess, and damagaed it. There was some hesitation when you accelerated hard and I hadn't figured out what was causing it. Always wondered! It turned out to be the knock sensor and it was doing what it does when it sees knock. That hesitaion is gone, the car has never run smoother. That has only been a week ago. Now the ECU is seeing good info from the knock sensor. Still learning I would suppose.
Keep in mind that this VF-12 went to Deadbolt, got ported, center section rebuild, and a larger compressor wheel.

Interesting.
Quest to the group. Are peaks in dyno charts ever due to human input i.e. non smooth acceleration? Does the guy at the dyno drive (he's used to it) or the owner?
KK, why don't you come to Ballard for dyno runs - we could have lunch...
I need to get my baseline, may be would could get a two-fer deal???
http://www.kitoautosport.com/
Or come out for a quick run on the dynocallenge Aug 18-19???

Your VF12 has a larger compressor eh? interesting.
I did some searching over on nasioc for PDX dynos and found that stock 2.0l wrx's come in around 165hp/(couldn't find a good stock trq #) and Sti's around 240hp/225ftlbs on their Mustang. So your 180/211 is REALLY damn good, especially for 10psi
Looking forward to hearing of the 14psi results!
