No 1st Gear

So i was rally-xing today and when i tried to put it back in first at the finish to drive back to the stage start it will not engage at all. It was going into first all day no problems, didnt grind it or anything. I cant even get it to the point i can feel the gates. It just does not move forward.

2-5 and Reverse still work perfectly and no strange noises. Dipstick shows clean fluid at proper level. Im going to drain it tomorrow and check for metal parts/chunks.

Anyone have any ideas of what this could be? Did i somehow bend the selector fork/rod?

Possibly a bent fork, possibly a chipped tooth restraining the fork...

When I blew first gear, I thought it was just a bent fork, took the tranny apart, and there was a tooth jammed between the fork and the tranny casing :/

Thank you sir, atleast it wasnt something that took out the whole box and left me stuck at the rally-x course.

Does anyone have any detailed diagrams of the gearbox assembly, my chiltons/alldata/service manual (from the library) dont show a thing for internals. Im trying to determine how far apart i have to take this to get at the forks.

You have to take the center diff off, and split the casing

So this http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... ?t=1304025 caught my eye. Are there any differences on the clutch fork/slave cylinder/clutch/flywheel i would have to swap to use this? How about axle spline count? Would the 93 axles work on this? How about the driveshaft?

Axles and driveshaft would be ok. Different clutch setup though. Here's my thread from a discussion on when I was gonna go with a Leg GT drivetrain:

Ok, i cant seem to get a clear answer on this. Can a turbo flywheel/clutch be used with an N/A hyrdo gearbox. I understand the turbo is a pull and N/A is a push but what would be different about the fork engagement/throwout bearing to the pressure plate (assuming you had the N/A push slave cyl.)? Can anyone explain/provide pictures of why it wouldnt work?

It wont work because the way the slave cylinder/cable mount bolts to the tranny is different

The bellhousing is a totally different design between the push/pull style.

Right, i understand there is no way to make a pull hyrdo fork work in a push hyrdo gearbox. but im asking what is different about the actual fork engagement into the pressure plate? does one have more/less fork travel necessitating a less travel/stronger sprung/bigger pressure plate making it not possible to use the other style flywheel/pressure plate?

One is pull and one is push. They are designed totally differently. With one, you pull back on the spring-fingers to engage the clutch, and the other you push forward on the spring fingers.

The flywheel is probably interchangeable, but the pressure plate is definately not.

To get to the forks, EVERYTHING needs to come out of the tranny. Not worth it if you don't know what your doing.

Ok thats what i was looking for. I was thinking the push vs pull was in reference to the slave cyl only and its action relative to the fork. So on a push the throwout bearing actually seats into the spring fingers, thanks for the explanation.
