If you can find epoxy appliance flat black, I would use that. I did the hood and trunk on my '83 sedan with it and it covered much nicer than regular spray paint and never got a chip even on the hood leading edge. Also looked a little richer and took longer to fade (you could only just see slight paint strokes when it had faded for a few months). I think I did three coats with overlapping strokes, each one drying near instantly so no crap got stuck in it even painting it outdoors. To keep it looking decent, I used to rub it with some kind of Black Magic paint preservative every once in a while to freshen the paint back to black (instead of gray). Looked OEM flat black instead of white trash flat black after I would treat it).
Flat black is hard to find in the appliance epoxy, but you can probably order it somewhere.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
thanks for the tip with the appliance epoxy. i'll definitely try that instead of regular spray paint.
and i heard that flat black hides imperfections on the body better than satin or gloss black. that's why i'm doing it flat lol. plus i actually like the look of it.

The paint protectant also makes it easier to clean, but I highly recommend getting to any seagull shit ASAP. I actually carried a small bottle of water and some napkins for spot rinses.

Only can get it through John Deere dealers. Check their website for your closest one. Here's the thread where I painted my car (with pic):

I used the same stuff, only used a spray gun, not cans. They say the stuff in cans is the same though, but of course it sprays better from a real gun.
