Gauging Interest: TMIC Adapters

Post by Threshld1 »

Hey guys,
So ive been trying to get rid of the worthless plastic BPV on my SS for a while now. I finally came across a FMIC adapter flange for an OEM WRX BPV so i was able to relocate it (since it would interfere with the TB cable linkage). One of my co-workers runs a machine shop on the side and gave me a quote on 10 of these adapters. It would be much cheaper for him to make up 10 instead of just two for myself. I noticed a major difference in partial throttle boost between the WRX BPV and the stock SS BPV.

They would be made of aluminum with the normal TMIC flange (like ones for aftermarket BOV's) but have a nice 1.25" barbed hose fitting (i would most likely be able to get him to make them w/ a .75" barb also).
The BPV would be relocated just below the TMIC between the TB and your relocated coolant tank. Ill try and get some pictures of the setup soon.

My question for you guys is how many of you would be interested in a pair of these (one for the TMIC and one for the BPV) for ~$65 shipped?
Im also looking into making kits w/ hardware, two hose sections, gaskets, and a 1.25-.75" reducer for those with stock intakes.
Just an idea i had, let me know if any of you are interested.

Pictures of the adapter with a WRX BPV installed would be helpful to gain a more complete understanding of what this is. If I can use it I would be interested.

Here is my current test setup, sorry crappy camera phone is all i have here at the shop. Since i only have one 1.25" adapter i attached it directly to the BPV. The other adapter is an old one i had been using with my SS BPV w/ a .75" hose. So as is in that picture its .75" out of the TMIC to a 1.25" adapter to the BPV. Then 1.25" off the BPV to another adapter back down to .75" into the intake hose.

With 1.25" flanges it will be a 90* 1.25" hose down into the open spot between the TB and condenser tank where the WRX BPV will reside. Then a 1.25" hose back to the intake (like a OEM WRX setup) and then reduced to .75" into the intake. If you make a mug you could plug the stock .75" return line and add your own 1.25" return for no reduction at all. Does that help at all?
