Does 1998 2.2L light crank pulley fit on a 1991 2.2L turbo?

Does 1998 2.2L light crank pulley fit on a 1991 2.2L turbo?

I have a 98 Legacy wagon from which I could swap a light pulley set into my new 1991 Turbo Legacy.
Does anybody know for sure, I am really new to the first generation Legacies

The pulley is rubbing the plastic cover like crazy...are you sure it's compatible?

Your plastic cover is not on correctlly.

Usually its bacause the rubber timing belt cover gaskets wernt installed correctlly after doing a timing belt job. When they get oil soked, they expand and dont go back on very well, or somebody just didnt care to fit everything cause they were in a hurry.

To get the plastic back into place, id remove the rad fans, and both accessory belts. Then remove the crank pulley, and all the 10mm bolts holding the plastic covers. Youll then know the rubber "gaskets" Im talking about. They keep dirt and debris from getting into the timing belt area. If they have expanded, and dont fit anymore, then replace them, or just get rid of em and put it back together so everything fits flush.

Or just skip everything, and let the damn pully rub the plastic. As long as the pulley is on the crank propper, and it isnt wobblin around all crazy like, fuggit.

Unless one of the gaskets has slipped behind the cover and then take warning. Read up on how the Ej20G with Ej22T heads that I built died. It was not pretty and was the result of a misinstalled cover gasket that got sucked into a cam gear...

I vote for putting it together like it all should be. the pulley is not the problem, your install of the timing covers is at fault. Measure twice, cut once, never falter, always boostin.

I prefer: If it's stuck, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway :wink:
