Megaflow muffler options-reviews?

Post by macipusy »

Can you guys write me a brief description of your catback and model of Megaflow (or equal) muffler....

I have been searching for options and all the quality brands are $$$

I was thinking of haaving a muffler shop make a custom mid pipe with a megaflow muffler....

I need a quiet setup that does not lack performance....single 4" tip and 3"exhaust ( I like the look of the SPT tip )

Here's how the cool kids do it on the cheap-

Check out jhot imports on ebay (search for them on google).

They've always got subaru axleback exhaust pieces. I picked up a sweet Greddy muffler from them already with hangers and the bends I needed. It was from an impreza so it did need a little bit of adjustment that my muffler place did for 30 bucks.

or
Check forums for used exhaust.

or

On my other legacy I just installed a Summit Racing "turbo" muffler. Reused the stock hangers and bent up some pipe. Muffler was under $30.

I've said it before - You'll probably be happy with any route you choose, you'll hear the sweet boxer rumble with any muffler you get. I've yet to hear a really ricey subaru, all of them have a nice deep tone. As far as performance goes, 3in' from the turbo back (downpipe, midpipe, any muffler) is where it's at. Bonus points for adding a valve to bypass the muffler and go straight pipe when you really want performance.
EDIT: To make it quiet, just stay under 3k RPM  But seriously, Subaru exhaust is pretty simple, play around with different setups. Remove your muffler completely and see how loud it is, it's definately not earthshattering.

I LOVE my magnaflow!!! 3" Striaght through, sounds soo mean and really smooth. Much better than a flowmaster if you ask me. A lot more classy, and more rumble instead of crackling.

To be honest, I'm not sure. It was a base model straight through muffler with no tip. 3" center inlet and outlet.
