Lifter noise?

Post by 94legacy2.2 »

Just wondering if these heads (stock 2.2t heads) are known for having lifter noise?

I pulled the motor due to leaks and number 4 plug hole was stripped out. Bought the car a couple weeks ago.
Replaced the driver head with a stocker head.

Now I got the car running, went for a drive and started to noticed a lifter type noise, Its kinda loud while driving. Do you think its a lifter? how can I get rid of it?

Thanks
Tyson

Sounds like it. It will probably go away. You're supposed to submerge the lifter in oil and pump it in and out to displace any air inside, but I find they clatter like a mother and shut up on their own. How long did you drive it?

I just drove it around the block and back. So maybe 1/2 mile or so

I'd figure they would pump back up with oil over time

Yeah, it takes a little longer and I don't think cheating by idling would do as much since the higher pressure from running should fix it sooner.
