Is it just me or is this board starting to kinda slow down?

It just seems to me like less and less and less people are on the board anymore.
I am starting to make a compilation of all the how to stuff on here.

Am I the only one who has noticed this or have you to?

I'm not 100% sure, but I can almost guarantee that most of the 383 online were bots.

Regardless, yeah, it's happening, and for a number of reasons.

First off, our cars are old. The newest car we discuss (or at least that this forum specifically caters to) is almost 14 years old. Some of them are pushing 20 years old.

That said, some of the original members of this board most likely have sent their cars off to the junkyard above. Don't forget, not everyone wants to hassle with an old slow car when they would rather have, and can afford, a newer car.

So most of the old-timers have moved on. morgie, mile hi, 91White-T, boostjunkie, IggDawg, AdamBC5, even the administrator himself (much love Dave ), have all moved on from 1st-gen Legacies. In fact, the only people I can think of off the top of my head that are charter members of this forum and still have their Legacies are Josh (777), Andrew (petridish38) and me. I'm not a true honest charter member, but pretty close. And Andrew hardly ever posts anymore (he still has his Legacy, but it's a secondary car to his WRX, so he doesn't drive it much).

Second, we've all been toying with these cars for quite a while. So we either already know how to fix stuff, or if we're building a fast car, we've already pushed it to its limits pretty much. Truth be told, there isn't a whole lot to talk about that hasn't already been said before.

Third, I think the atmosphere that once surrounded this forum has worn off a lot. I won't go into that.

i have owned three turbo legacies and i am super grateful that this site exists, had i not discovered legacy central i would never have done my 5mt swap or even gotten more t-legos after the first. This forum has educated me sooooo much and i owe so much thanks to the veterans on this site (josh mostly). I mostly lurk around here and dont contribute much to the community, but just about every day i get online i stop in and check it out. I now only own one 92ss and an 86 brat that are both drivin daily and kept on the road with help from here. I shutter when i think about life without the bbs

The board really isn't slowing down, trust me. That was, iirc, the first day that I put Adsense on the site, so all of the pages on the bbs were being audited by Google.

If anything the traffic is holding pretty steady. I check out the page impressions on a monthly basis, and it really makes me happy that there's still so much interest in these cars.

Truth be told, there isn't a whole lot to talk about that hasn't already been said before.

Don't let repeat n00b question threads lull you into total boredom. These cars are getting older so we're likely to have more threads about old car problems rather than common repairs. I think we have a suitably hardcore group of Legacy nuts to sustain the cars and this forum.

I will eventually move into newer legacies. I stayed with these cuz I'm obsessive. I love these cars and I can't tell you why.

I've had a '92 SS, a '96 Outback (still have), a '98 Forester S and an '07 Legacy 2.5i and the '92 was by far my favorite.

My parents had an old '84 GL but that doesn't count because it wasn't mine. It's what got me hooked on Subies though.

Uh, I don't post as much anymore because one, I'm busy as hell and two, I don't have my SS anymore. I still check on the site almost everyday though.

I am on this site all the time. I am at work right now and I am checking it. I just don't post to much because can usually find answers to all my questions just by reading the logs. I think sites like this will always have a place because there are new technologies and toys coming out everyday and the bc/bf/bj is definatly one old dog that can still learn new tricks.

Mainly the reason I don't post as much is my real life activities. Between work, photography, motorsports, and snowboarding I keep pretty damn busy. (Yes, I went boarding not even two weeks ago on Mt. Hood)

I still get up here from time to time to see what's going on, just don't type and "submit" as much as I used to.

I will add by saying I love my 92 SS, and this website. I drop by about 2-3 times a day, and hope it goes nowhere as well. I have had a N/A 93 wagon, have the 92 SS, and an 07 SE. Also my father had two brats forever. they may have rotted away around the drivetrain, but I still feel the mid eighties to mid nineties subies have the most character. you guys should know where I am coming from. oh, yeah my 92 is daily driven as well. not going anywhere anytime soon........unless I find the elusive 92-94 turbo wagon to trade for it.

Same boat for me. With school starting and not having a computer at home right now puts a dampner on my posting. I transfered to a new school this fall, so I've been super busy with all that.

i think it has slowed some, seems harder to push parts in the parts shed.

i just bought a brat and have been over on USMB, and it seems some of those guys are looking for newer stuff (getting out of the old and into the 90's), ie legacy, so some of them may end up on here so it could pick up in the future. The older cars are rusting away and so they have to update.

Well, Matt (legacy92ej22t) got me turned onto this place a while back when I picked up my '98 LGT and he was running his '92 LSS. He of course sold his car and a year later I now have a '92 LSS... (go figure) I've gained a great bit of knowledge from this site (and Matt too) in a very short amount of time. Without this site, I'd likely be very lost when it comes to what new stuff (ie - WRX engine & suspension parts) crosses over to the older cars . I stil get on SLi.net for my LGT, but not as often since the LSS is my current love/project. Of course I frequent Nasioc for WRX tid-bits, but this place has more of a tight knit feeling compared to some of the other Subaru forums. I frequent legacycentral at least 2-4 times a day.

I recently swapped a 22t into my 92wagon. Without this resource, it wouldn't have been possible. There is so much info to be found here, and the majority of the members are so willing to share that I'm sure I'll be around as long as others are. The higher maturity level here is refreshing, also.

I always used to want a WRX when I was in high school. After getting my Legacy I have no interest in getting one. Everyone has one around here, and I prefer this engine more. Its closed deck, and all the WRX's owners (i know) are having issues.

Mine has 187,000 miles on it and its still running perfect.

Yeah, think about that for a minute. How many high-milage WRX sedans or wagons can you really come up with? Yeah, I realize a lot of people are just now hitting 100,000 miles on their cars. They just don't seem to be up to par as some of the older built cars in the relm of how many miles you can stack on them before they die...

This forum has been a blessing for me, I'm and American Iron fan, but the daily driver Subie has grown on me to the point that I'm intersted in the possabilities.

I would think that part of the slow down is the same as on th eboating forums: IT'S SUMMER!!!! everyone is outside doing, playing, and going, the sunroofs aren't leaking, etc. in a month or so the traffic here will go up as people start planning the next round of repairs/mod's/upgrades.

Mostly comes down to time, doesn't it?
Most of us are too damn busy to keep in touch with the ones we love on a regular basis, let alone spend time in here.
I'm fortunately able to spend more time here now, due to a new job.... 12hr shift, midnights, full internet access...not much else to do at 3am.
I'm also on Yahoogroups Syncro, and Subaru-Vanagon lists...by the way, if anyone has parts cars and motors to sell, the Vanagon community is always looking for good donors for engine swaps, you should advertise on that list, and at vwvortex.com and thesamba.com...they need engines and complete, uncut wiring harnesses.
I think I'll post that into a parts bin thread...
