We have been looking for a bit, and found this one today.

05 STI with 15,000 miles.

I am not a black fan, but the low mileage was hard to beat.

Nice!

A black 05 is the most desirable USDM Impreza STi IMO.

F'n sweet. 05 has been my favorite year of STi. Having had the privelage of driving my friend's on some distance trips and back roads, I can only imagine the joys you are having. That machine is a piece of art.

Congrats.

As for replacing the Legacy, not going to happen.

It is way too much fun to drive to decide to sell it.

So this is what our collection looks like right now:

I guess when you compare the Legacy to the STi you'll have first hand experience.

So, the 05 what makes that year so great? I've heard a number of people remark on it. Educate me...

The 05 is the last year of the singlepiece grille.
They went to the "Va gina" front end after this.

They improved the front diff, went from the 5/100 to the 5/144.3 wheel size, changed the center console, went from 17/7.5 to 17/8 wheels also.

These are the best of the changes.

As for driving them:

The previous month's Sport Compact has an article on the Evo 6 vs. the Evo 9. That summarizes it very well:

The Early car takes more effort to drive, gives more feedback and just is more of a driver's car. The newer one is easier to drive and has more comforts, and is quicker. But on a whole, the older car is so much more fun to drive on a whole.

04-05 STI have the same front end.

The car has not moved since I bought it because it needs:
New black Carpet ( I hate the STi blue carpet)
New black STi floor mats,
Tint and 3m clear bra.

I wonder if the blue carpet would fit in my car? <grin>

Wasn't one of these years a handful to drive? Tail happy because of diff? Must have been the 04...
