Considering doing a rebuild on my 4EAT which is slipping and not shifting under heavy throttle. I figure I might as well instead of buying a replacement in unknown condition. At least it would make me feel better about thrashing on it.
Has anyone done this themselves before? How hard is it to do? I've rebuilt 5-valve motorcycle engines before so I figure this can't be too bad.

I guess the answer to that question is not how hard it is to do. But how adept the person is that is contemplating doing it. Like for example someone that has a job doing transmission rebuilds for a living, doesn't think its all too hard at all.
And with doing any such mechanical work, even the so called experts don't always or can't aways do it good and proper. That again depends on the person doing the work.
If your not a mechanical type of person it is probably cheaper to get a JDM or good wreaking yard unit. It is easy to forget or misinstall a part and then it either trashes the trans, or you do it all over again. Go for it, you can always use the parts and pieces for an art project.
