I just want to make sure this isn't something I should be worried about--not sure where it's coming from as the rear main looks completely dry? It only looks like a little seepage but I don't want to take this tranny out again anytime soon!!

Any ideas? thanks!

This is technically an engine question.

Anyway, if the tranny's out, go ahead and do it. I used to hold my head up high and go on about how Subarus NEVER leak from the rear main...

and look what happened: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=32195

That makes more sense, I think I've just had clutch on the mind--Yeah,I just went ahead and changed it, I'm not really in to pulling that thing out again soon.

That looks so odd. I imagine it's a 5-speed, because you call it an SS, but that pattern doesn't look like its from the motor.
Kickin' it old-school.
