my new 91 JDM grille no workie

Post by macipusy »

I was all excited that my 91 JDM grille was at my door when I got home from work. I quickliy took off the stocker and ......whaaaaaa....whoaaaa.....fricken sticks out, the center lower mount too long and it is about 2 inches too narrow.....

Is the JDM 91 different then a USDM 91.....when I asked about differences of the 91 JDM grill vs USDM, all replies said its identical....

now I have a grill that does not fit...

crappy

I would guess that a '91 JDM is the same as our '92-'94 model years.
'93 Winestone SS Auto, '91 Pearl White SS.
'93 Pure White SS EJ20G slanty intercooled, SIDESWIPED! In stasis.

World market release schedule

Models have typically been released into Japan and selected World markets such as New Zealand and Chile in advance of the Continental European and North American markets, perhaps because the first two are right-hand drive markets and Subaru has a strong presence in Chile.

* Generation I: 1989–1992
* Generation II: 1993–1997
* Generation III: 1998–2003
* Generation IV: 2003–present

[edit] North American market release schedule

North America usually releases its models two years after Japan does, due to the fact that all current Legacies for the North American market have been built at Subaru of Indiana located in Lafayette, Indiana since 2004. Previously, all USA Legacy were built at either the Indiana plant or the Ōta, Gunma plant in Japan starting in 1989.

* Generation I: 1990–1994
* Generation II: 1995–1999
* Generation III: 2000–2004
* Generation IV: 2004–present
(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Legacy)

Well I don't want to sound rude, but the years are never the same between japan and North America market (for subies)....
if the gens years aren't the same, the facelift year shouldn't be the same either ....

(sorry for the poor English, it's my second language)

would you have a pic of the grill ??

Yes, a 91 JDM Legacy is post-facelift. Our 92-94.

You're going to want an 89 or 90 JDM grill for your car.

It doesn't look any different than the '92-'94 turbo Legacy grille. I guess you'd have to see them side by side to see any difference.

they are the same grill... Just like a us 1990 legacy L will have the same as a JDM 1989 legacy SS and a 1994 impreza L will have the same grill as a V4 jdm wrx sti. In other words... Don't buy a jdm grill its the same as the one you already have! Just call the one you have jdm no one will know the difference! ;)
