I saw it in her face that she was on the verge of crying, but she agreed to it.

So, that's that.

Tristan, I'd be more than happy to take you up on your offer, but I think I at least deserve a couple months of down time so I can regroup and get my shit back together. I'll be graduated by December, so I'll have much more time for such shenanigans.

Thanks all for the kind words. It really does mean a lot.
Never say never, sometimes it takes a while before both people really realize what they meant to each other. My ex and I have been hanging out again a lot recently after not talking for 8 months. We had an especially ugly breakup too after living together for a year. Life has an interesting way of making things work out. Sometimes you go your own way only to come full circle.

And other times not. Like happiness, if you pursue it you'll probably never find it. People move apart for reasons. Paths converge and diverge, sometimes frequently, sometimes not, but the unpredictable nature of it all makes life the learning experience that it is. Yes, I've been reading too many fortune cookies and drinking oolong tea lately.

I've always been a fan of Homer's written recordings (he just wrote down long-standing oral traditions), particularly The Odyssey. After 20 years, Odysseus makes it back to his wife and that's basically how it ends. Very sweet, but the question that I think needs to be asked is - after all that happened to them separately, what would they have in common any more? I understand that culture was different then, but a modern day interpretation (something I'm doing) would require that to be asked unless someone wanted to write a Hollywood BS ending.

Someone once told me that getting back with an ex is like breaking your leg, healing, then going and doing the exact same thing over again and expecting not to break your leg.

I honestly believe that things might have worked out better for us if the timing was different. But the thing is, we see each other differently now than we did when we first got together.

Steve alluded to it, and it's true. Things like that happen in Hollywood because that's what people WANT to happen. Movies/books/etc. allows people to make things happen that they may want to happen, but they know never will.

It's been a very difficult week. It still feels just as shitty as it did Friday, but I'm forcing myself to understand that it's over and I'm doing the best I can to force myself from dwelling on it.

I'm still here, and I've managed to keep myself employed and going to class, so I must not be doing too bad.

I gauged myself by the same things and the fact that I didn't kill anyone. On occasion I had to call in too pissed off to work, but all my bosses were pretty understanding. I almost never called in sick anyway.

Hey man, im sorry to hear this. I feel for ya, I have been down that road. Just need some time alone. One thing that helped was working a lot, and hanging out with friends and working on cars. All and all everything worked out for the better, just needs time to heal. You have the right attitude about everything. Getting back at someone is lame and 3rd grade, move on and enjoy whats around you.

I ditched my long distance girlfriend this morning who had plans to come down here in December....

She got pissy with me last night when I was working on my car because I told her I'd call her when I was done (not at any particular time) I realized every time I didn't give her what she wanted, she got mad at me.

Yet I had asked her not to call to: wake me up, during work, after work, etc; and that I would call her at a specific time every evening and talk to her about her day/etc.

She failed to follow my request, and called me all the time, whenever she wanted; even at very inopportune times: this morning at 7:30AM (I don't wake up till 9AM), during my house closing on the 4th (I told her I was closing at 2PM and would be busy: she called at 2:10PM and asked if she was interrupting), and countless other times: during work meetings, while I'm driving (I don't talk on cellphones while driving) etc.

it's infuriating when people throw at you "I'm a free spirit I don't have to obey you" yet as soon as you do what you like, trying to enjoy your independence, they get all angry and shit.

I told her to disappear and leave me alone this morning, I didn't want phone calls or any other form of communication: good bye.

Feels great and makes me feel like a horrible person all at the same time.

I agree, men are being systematically pussified. I don't think we need a return to ancient Spartan ideals, but a step n that direction would be nice.

Me, I tell them, "You wouldn't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner. A rebel."

Here here to the pussification. It's obvious in a lot of ways, though under the guise of 'evolution'.

But we can't all be loggers and steel workers -- we need scientists, and men's fashion designers and homosexuals in order to have the QOL we have come to expect.

Screw that. . . if they can't let a man be a man, they should just go after women.

Scientists aren't pussies (necessarily). Asking why, creating and developing new things (besides more stinking humans) isn't wussy in the least.

I'm against the BS way they're forcing people to raise kids nowadays. Boys aren't allowed to get hurt or play with toy guns that aren't painted gay colors and shit's all about their feelings and self-esteem when the irony is that if they never accomplish anything on their own or experience defeat as well as triumph (unlike kids sports that don't keep score to "preserve the kids' self-esteem") they will never actually develop any self-esteem. The human brain is wired to feel rewarded by accomplishment through work. It's one of the reasons most lottery winners don't feel any happier a few years after winning and a lot of rich kids are douchebags. Look at omnipotent rulers (especially hereditary ones) and the cruelty and depravity many resort to in a desperate attempt to feel something, even just a small short rush of power at the expense of self.

A kid can learn more by losing a game than winning one. All this country (most of the western world, really) is doing is raising entitled, dependent people incapable of handling tragedy or taking responsibility for their actions or even anything bad that may happen to them (as commonly happens in life).

I'm pretty sure my book has scared a few women away because it's about bad shit and bad men, but as hot as those chicks may've been, I don't feel upset as that's who I am and if they want some pussy, there are plenty of 'em out there and I won't tuck my dick between my legs to get those closet lesbians to like me. Eventually this fucking book will be out and maybe it'll impress the right one. If not, I'm quite fine being alone.

Women ultimately don't want pussed-out men. Trust me. Forget all that shit about a woman wanting a man to be more sensitive and caring and all that crap, because they don't. They want a MAN, not a girlfriend with a penis.

I don't mean they want a chauvinistic abusive asshole, I mean they want an independent man who will take charge and stand up for himself.

Take my word on this. My behavior over the last 6 months is why I'm a single man now. If I hadn't been such a little bitch about my hard times as of late, I might still be with my girlfriend.

That's true - they dont' want a macho tough guy unless they're the brainless insecure women that look for the closet-gay gym monkeys, but not many want that metro sexual I-don't-pump'my-own-gas-'cause-it-smells-yucky guys there's so many of now either.

I've been told I'm the most interesting person someone's met by a few women. One I scared off anyway (made the mistake of driving with me, but she was a head case I didn't really want to get pulled into a serious relationship anyway, smoking hot and smart as she is), and the other who had been flirting with me for a year before I asked her out, ended up intimidated by me being "too interesting" as she didn't think she had that much to offer and didn't want me getting bored with her. She has tits - she always has something to offer. Eh, she doesn't have that great an ass anyway. So it seems 'interesting' is good, but not TOO interesting (because then you verge on weird. Like me).

haha thats great. well i'm waiting for your book now.. so get cracking
your correct this western soci. is breading a bunch of puss. but thats maybe because the capitalistic market wouldn't do as well if men were aloud to be men.. if we could hunt and farm and went back to pre-war (ww1 )america. this country would be great. the goverment keeps making us pussie by saying it acceptable to be a pussie they want us to feel as tho we need them to keep us safe and the take the bravest of us and kill us half a world away. this has been done so many times before now all tha left is whinny anti guns, don't spank your kids, no death penatly, i can't pump my own gas, whaaa whaa whaaa.......
