Exactly. Who's said one way or the other that the new STi might have keyless ignition like the Acura RL?

That's my concern too. I've been thinking... if I were to get something besides a Subaru, what would I get? About the only new cars that interest me anymore are things I can't afford.

The next quirkiest thing would be Saab, but they're just too GM-alized now. I wouldn't do a C900, the backwards engine is a little TOO much for me . But I must confess that I've been eyeing NG900's lately. A little more mechanic-friendly while still being odd enough to catch my eye. I was looking at 9000's too, but if I get a Saab, I want my ignition on the floor dammit.

I better get that Forester while the offer still stands. That will hold me over for a little while. Then when it's dead and I'm falling asleep on my way to work while my car automatically drives me there, I can dream of a time when driving was fun.

Maybe. There's several things standing in my way right now though:

1) I'm not graduated yet
2) I still have my 79 and XT, and by the looks of things, they're not going to be gone in the next 2 months
3) I have not found ONE single Forester Sports XT 5spd in all of the Southeast United States

And truth be told, I haven't decided on it 100% yet. One of the big reasons I was considering it was because of my ex, because I thought if we were going to start a life together, that it would be good for us to have at least one new car and for me not to be dragging my junkpiles along with me. But now... that no longer applies. And there's still that part of me that wants to fix all these old cars up.

Yet at the same time, my 17-year-old Legacy's odometer keeps climbing, and the thought of using 18- and 27-year-old cars as backups seems less and less feasible.

I dunno.

STAR won't/can't order you one? I'm sure CL would sell your other rides, though, to get rid of them in 2mos, you might hafta find some folks who look like nice people who need a first car for they kid or something. Offer them one helluva deal?

To be completely honest, Star is getting sold in about 3 weeks. Don Mealey bought us out.

All 3 Subaru dealerships in the area have been sold within the past 4 months. First, Bill Bryan sold off Hyundai to Classic, then Collier Jaguar bought them out. Then Bob Dance got bought out by Mastro, then we're about to get bought out too.

I don't know what that means for the future of the dealership or even the future of my job.

So I'm not banking on anything right now. I just do my job, get my paycheck on Friday, and go home.

I had one potential buyer on the 79, but he wanted the car running, and I don't know how much longer he's going to wait. I had two on the XT, but they've disappeared too.

Like I said, I dunno. Things are REALLY up in the air right now.
