Is NASIOC a secured forum to do transactions?

Post by Trace »

because it is a private to private sale with no medium unlike ebay.... how can i make sure the guy from NASIOC forum actually ships the item to me after I have made the payment? Has anyone has any kind of bad transactions before? Thanks!

That is the problem with over the net transactions... I would search for prior for sale ads by him on nasioc and look at what people said or pm his buyers... If you have a bad feeling I wouldnt do it.

Normally I buy from peeps like Blackbart and other known sellers.

Make sure you have good pics and then ask for a specific pic of another part of the item just to make sure he is taking the pics and not pullin them off of ebay.

I hope this helps, by the way how much are you potentially spending?

Welcome to the internet Trance. He could be your best online friend and still screw you. Ive seen it done before. Doesnt mean it will happen here, but no matter what forum your a part of, any private to private transaction over the web has a chance to turn sour.

Ive bought PLENTY of stuff from members of this board, and the USMB. Most I have never heard of, but never have I been screwed. But there are plenty of other stories out there about people losing big money and never seeing it again.

I would search this fellows history on NASIOC and see what other people have to say about him if you are so worried.

-Brian

oh and no, NASIOC is not a secured forum. If you lose your money, dont expect any admins at NASIOC to help you out.

yeah, check trader ratings and buy things local whenever possible.

If you get screwed over, a bank charge back usually does the trick. It actually doesn't happen that often and I have bought and sold plenty of stuff on nasioc.

When it does, the complaining goes here:

LCO BBS is a very tight-knit group (I like to think so anyway) so on average people buy from a very specific known set of sellers and sour transactions are few and far inbetween (much less than that of nasioc) it doesn't mean it can't happen, but you've got less of a chance for shit to go bad if you buy from someone here who's been an active and participating member of LCO for awhile.

This is definitely a great place to deal. I feel mainly due to the age/maturity of the typical classic legacy owner compared to the typical impreza owner. I'll say that I am getting my second part from NASIOC right now. I honestly try to avoid the site for purchases mainly because of that reason, but we have to dip into the impreza "parts bin" every once in a while.

i just agreed to buy some AGXs from a guy on NASIOC.

the price was really good.

hopefully he ships fast.

how much protection does paypal offer?

i have never bought anything anonymously for more than 50 bucks online so i nver really cared if i was gonna get screwed or not. fortunately this guy has been a member there for a couple years and has a positive rating as a buyer. his posts dont make him seem like he is an asshat. so i guess that is a plus.

Paypal offers a ton of protection so it is the smartest way to pay online IMO

Paypal FTW +1

I got $350 back from paypal for an XBOX 360 that I paid for and never recieved. It may have taken a month for paypal to resolve it, but nevertheless. I still didn't lose anything but time.

I've bought things of Nasioc and aalways had a good experience. I've sold a crap load of stuff on there too. Don't buy from anyone with a real low post count and check the scammer sticky's for people with known issues.

A lot of times people will still deal with Paypal so you're still protected. Sometimes things are cash deals (like when I met a guy from NJ to buy rex wheels). Then you get to see the item first and I like that.

I've been screwed on NASIOC before, but had good experiences many more times. The things I have learned:

1) Check their iTrader rating. It is a little # that appears next to their name in classified section threads. If they don't have a rating, I probably won't buy from them.

2) Use a credit card through Paypal, as Paypal's 'protection policy' is garbage. If you do get screwed, call paypal AND your CC company. If you have credit on your PP account, take the time to have that funded to your CC or bank account, then use a CC to pay for the item.

Very true, it certainly gives you a peace of mind when you see what others have commented in seller's iTrader rating.

I just bought off a 06 WRX intercooler with stock BPV from a seller on NASIOC and everything went smooth. reasonable pricing, fast shipping, good packaging...etc 8)

He had 11 ratings and they were all positive comments.
