Vibration under load....

Post by Cincy_Machine »

I have a 97 LGT. I just had a replacement transmission, new axles and new wheel bearing put in all due to torque bind that fried my transmission. All fluids are at the correct level.
I feel a vibration under load while in gear at idle say at a stop light. The vibration in not present in park or neutral. I also do not fell any vibration while driving. This vibration was not present before the transmission replacement What is cause this vibration?

Check your engine and tranny mounts.

Ok then, what would cause hard shifting from 1st to 2nd under light loads or acceleration? I fine under hard acceration.

Transmission fluid maybe needs to be changed? Possibly need to adjust your Throttle position sensor. I did that and shifts were pretty much perfect. For my 93 legacy I followed this. Not sure if its the same with your 97.

Very simple I just connect the top 2 pins on the connector to my meter on ohms and adjusted accordingly. Has to buy the feeler guage though was only like $5 most auto parts stores sell them.

The newer cars utilize a 3-pin TPS, that sets the idle based upon startup conditions. So that procedure won't work for the newer cars.

How old the transmission? I know my Legacy transmission would clunk a bit during light shifts because it was just old. My SVX transmission does the same thing. I did find though that a grounding kit did stiffen up the shifts a little bit - but nothing major.
