STi/SPT Shift kit

Post by legacy_productions@yahoo. »

Ok I just want to make sure that if I order the STi/SPT short shift
kit from this link
(https://ssl.autocenter.net/webparts/aca ... ue_Drive_T
rain_504.html) it will fit my 92 Legacy Turbo. And if it does, does
anybody know what it will take to install it? Any pointers or things
not to do? Any help would be appreciated.

Jay-

first off, no guarantees.

I know it fit on my '90 NT with no problems. I know that it fit on my
buddies '93 impreza with a legacy engine with no problems. I know that it
fits on a 99 impreza with no problems.

And from what i hear from a couple technitions that i know, it should
(emphasis on should) fit on your legacy with no problem.

I set my stock one out on my floor next to the SPT one before i installed it
to check to see if all the mounting points were the same. You might want to
do this too.

Its going to take a phillips head screwdriver, a floor jack (the larger the
better), two jackstands, 12mm socket, 12mm box-end wrench, a hammer, and a
punch-pin thingie or the right sized allen wrench. Oh, and 3 hours if your
doing it by yourself, at night, for the first time, while it's cold, with
manual tools.

If your stock shift assembly has the spring in it (you'll find it if you
have it) remember to put that back in cuz it makes the shifter feel more
comfortable.

Good luck!

Ok thanks for the help but one more question... If it
does fit will I have to drop the tranny to replace it
or not? Did the kit come with any type of detailed
instructions? Or is this something that you have to
know it already to do it? Also does anyone have
documentation on part numbers for the factory linkage
for both the 90 NA and the 92 Turbo Legacys, figured I
would check here first before making a fool out of my
self at my local Subaru dealer... they don't like me
as it is.

thanks again for your help.

No you do not have to drop the tranny.

Mine did not come with detailed instructions. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being
the most difficult) this would be about a 5, but thats because i did it in
difficult circumstances. I did not know how to do it before hand.

I don't have part numbers, i just have spares, sorry. =(
