A few years ago, my son Joel ( 98 Impreza RS with huge turbo and intercooler) and I were videotaping the Wild West Rally (Olympia Washington) for ESPN2. Our maps showed a road that intersected a hairpin that was a few miles from any spectator zone. We came upon a ditch that was dug to prevent people from running parallel to railroad tracks that would intersect this road to "the shot of the century". There were a number of 4X4 pickups and SUVs parked all around this area, where the owners gave up and walked to a viewing spot. Joel and I really wanted a great shot, so we sized up the situation and determined that we could use a natural dirt incline for lift and just jump the ditch ala "Dukes of Hazard". My trusty 92 Legacy Turbo did did it with no problem and we just drove our sedate looking family sedan right on in. The next day, three of the SUV and 4X4 pickup owners that we saw parked got the courage to show that their car could jump a ditch too.
