OK heres the thing, my XT is in need of some front drive axles. Every time I go to the parts place, and order the ones they say are for my car, I get them home and they dont fit. The DOJ spline count is different. In case you dont know I have an MY87.5 XT turbo FT4WD MT. These drive shafts are different from the 85-86 xt, because I essentually have an xt6 transmission with Loyale/GL-10 hubs.
I want to know if I can use drive axles from an 88-89 non-turbo FT4WD MT car. I know the xt6 ones dont work, different hubs. I think they may be turbo specific, not sure.
I have ordered 3 different ones, all saying for 87 xt turbo MT, and recieved 3 different ones, all of them wrong.
Any help, would help

Yeah, there is a different spline count between turbo and NA.
Mike, wouldn't they be the same as other EA82 turbo's?
Try looking up the part for a 87 GL and also a 87 RX. If they are different, try out the RX one.

Yeah, that's about the best I can advise.
The EA Subaru catalogs suck even worse than the EJ ones. I tried sifting through a bunch of 3spd AAT and 5spd MT and GL & DL and GL10 stuff.
The best results I could find were a part number of 23221GA590 for all turbo models, which superceded to an SOA reman part number which is no longer available (SOA is once again reman'ing axles, but not any EA ones).
I have no way of getting spline counts or anything.
So, good luck. I'd take Brian's advice.

You might have better luck asking for 1987 RX front axles. EVERY 1987 RX came with a turbo, full time 4WD transmission that use the same axles as your XT. and if their computer gives you the wrong axles then you should never goto that auto parts store again
