look what I got!

Post by Steeper »

Picked this up for $1500. Its a v5 STi (?) RA with EMCD(?).

dont know the history at all but it seems to be a motorsports setup. Has a weird downpipe that runs the exhaust over the tranny xmember, header uppipe all wrapped, stainless lines everywhere, oil filter relocated everything is old and maybe tired, but thatll have to wait till we split the block and see.

anybody know anything about what you see, I am seeking all the info I can find.

I am either going to use it as is, or, if the bottom end needs lots of work I will use my ej22 block. really I bought it because the tranny is worth what I paid for the swap as a rebuildable core! Especialy with the EMCD!

I dunno what you are saying with EMCD.

That is a DCCD. It's not a factory setup though, as the access plate on a stock DCCD (the thing with the hole in it and the wires coming out) is cast aluminum, and the hole is round so that the DCCD connector fits with a metal clip, and wont leak, so long as the o-ring is good). That setup you have will leak though.

Hate to be mister negative, but considering what the guy did with the DCCD and whatnot, I'd have to think this isn't a factory STi RA. It'd definately not a v5. That manifold was only used on version STi and version 2 STi, both of which are EJ20G engines. Assuming the intake manifold is bolted to the head the heads are probably EJ20G heads also. Though they could be K, H, or R. The block can't tell without pictures, it should be an EJ207 engine, but seeing as how the heads aren't that, i doubt the block is. If it's got crosshatching, it's a closed deck which would mean it's a G. It also has a Zerosports ECM. The car has been heavily modified, so who knows what is actually going on. Tear into it if you really want to know.

The plate looks factory up close and there is a nice grommet through it, which someone has pushed through the plate into the engine. EMCD is the DCCD of the day, ElectroMagnetic centre differential I thinks.

Honestly I have no Idea the era of the engine, but the ECU and the oil cap both point to 95 (not reliable intel) and the tranny IS factory EMCD or DCCD as the code on the tranny tells me so. Says it was sent out of the factory with a 12KG and swapped before sale also says that its EITHER a wrx or sti RA w/ 3.9 front diff.

those of you who know. What year should the engine be? what ratings did it carry? Anyone run a zerosports ECU

sorry, meant to post in engine, or drivetrain, cant remember, but not exhaust!
though it did come with a cool equal length header and neat downpipe
