99 outback has pass water leak inside

Post by toomuch »

the water is getting in behind the dash. it actually comes out of the heater box when the fan is turned on, it is not coolant. I checked the widshield and it's not leaking. I checked the vent system and it isn't clogged up with tree debris and niether are the drains. I can't figure out how the water is getting in.

Has anybody else had this problem or offer insight?

Thanks

The heater core pulls air from a small vent area behind it. This comes from the firewall. There might be a small hole in that area.

How often do you get water in?

Only when it rains?
Whenever the fan is on?

You might want to explore and test this - it might help you determine better what the probem is.

I would guess then it would be this area. I think there is a drain here so when water rains into it, it drains down and out and not into the car.

Sadly, this is not an easy fix.
