Power antenna mast replacement

Post by Hondasucks »

Anyone know how to replace the power antenna mast? I put my junkyard mast in, and it'll go up just fine, but when it goes down, when each segment closes up, I can hear the gear jumping a few teeth before it continues pulling the next segment down, and when it gets about 4" from being completely closed, it grinds a bit then shuts off.

I was told to:

Turn car on so mast motor goes up all the way.
Insert new mast as far as your can before it stops. Then turn off radio in car so it pulls the mast the rest of the way down. It should pull the mast to within a few teeth.

Just lightly push the it the rest of the way down, if it is still up a bit.

If you insert it and it has quite a way left to go after the above, reverse the directions and re-insert it until you get it to where it should be.
