how much boost can a stock 67,000miles ej22e engine hold i heard something around 7psi but im not sure can someone tell me for sure

Let's just put it this way: Douglas is a movie star. His major debut release was an Engine Rebuilding DVD that he hosts and narrates, step by step. Doug probably has the most engine rebuilding experience here, not to mention the boosted territory he was brave enough to pioneer!
But there was a reason he got all that experience: the trial and error of different boosting scenarios, many of which resulted in the engine needing bottom-end repairs. Doug is THE MAN.

Doug has pushed his motors hard and is currently on #7 I think. He has charted a lot of new territory with his custom supercharger setup. He's also been kind enough to post a lot of his findings for us.
The big thing on boosting the NA is detonation reduction. How much extra are you wanting to get out of the NA? Reason I ask is a set of delta cams, and equal length headers will net you a good 25-30whp for a total cost of about 500 (minus HG kit). If you turbo your NA you will need to do some work to get the oil and coolant returns from the turbo setup. I may be telling you things you already know though, so to answer your question directly - with proper setup the NA block can take upwards of 16 psi - depending on the turbo.

stock injectors and ECU (NA) are good for MAX 5 psi. Yes, you can go further, but.....
bigger injectors (370,440) and stock ECU can go higher, mayby 8-9 psi) Your choice.
Anything larger, yeah, Piggyback.

thank you guys i just wanted to know because i just want to have a little more power out of my stock engine(for now) but wanted to know for sure so i don't end up breaking it. as far as parts i am using stock wrx intercooler, turbo, turbo xs downpipe and up pipe, boost controller and RFL bov, and i also have a greedy e-manage piggiback do you think this is a good set-up or is there something missing here.

I think Doug is definately one of the first folks to play with superchargers on a Subaru for his own use (not trying to build a kit for production).
BUT Folks have been turboing Subarus since the Minnam Kit days in the '90s, when I hated Subarus (I had not seen the light & was under the spell of a Turbo Integra GSR & 3 block burnouts).
Which car are you turboing Arturo?
Realize 2.2 Imprezas are single port & Subaru turbo manifolds/DPs will not bolt on to stock motors.

i ran a NA ecu on my turbo for awhile. i was able to push 9psi intercooled. the car really didnt like it. at that point it really just needed ignition. dougs right at theat point with a na you need a piggy back

Well, a singleport motor is just that 1 exhaust port shared by a pair of cylinders.
A dual port motor is more like one would expect each cyl has its own exhaust port.
Manifold flanges are total different for these 2 motors @ the cyl head so you can't bolt a dual port manifold (turbo manifold) onto a single port motor.
My buddy fabbed me custom up&dn pipes for use on my OBS which bolted onto the stock 2.2 single port "y"pipe / e-manifold.
A dual port motor is more like one would expect each cyl has its own exhaust port.

Speaking from a very recent EJ22 (NA) with WRX bits swapped in (manifold, turbo, etc etc) it ran decently with only a SAFC. The kicker is that it had nearly 200k on the motor. Within 4 weeks it blew a headgasket, overheated everytime it got into boost, and gulped oil out the exhaust (literally). I'm not totally sure as I haven't pulled the bottom-end apart. The pistons tops looked fine, nothing visually broken, and the cross hatching looked fine except for a dull spot on number 1 bore. The heads, which were freshened up are on the new bottom-end and are running fine now. Got to love the HLAs for ease of build and quiet!
As far as how much "boost" can you run. That depends on several factors. Are we talking 10psi on a large framed turbo or a small one? Maybe the question would be better suited as "how much power can it hold before it pops"? Engines fail for various reasons. Some of the most serious engines out there fail because of improper engine management calibration. Usually the the rod bearings will be punished into submission until they finally let go and spin or get mashed. Most Subaru factory motors from the same abuse generally pop a ringland, spin a bearing, and in some instances break a rod.
While not the best way to do it, you can get a set of Cometic head gaskets to bump up your CR. That'll help out a lot and the heads aren't too difficult to pull off these motors.
