Here are a few more posts I copied from the thread I have going on
the turbo fourm on i-Club. These posts are from svxtrem. He is
building up a 2.2T block using some interesting parts...
...If it were me, I would certainly go with the DOHC heads- I have
your exact setup (2.2T block) on an engine stand at home, difference
is that I bought a pair of STi v 3 heads (used) from Australia. These
have a smaller combustion chamber, so it will raise the compression
about .2 points (8.2:1) I also have the Sti v3 camshafts which are
not all that expensive.
I asked where he got the heads...
Ron- I got the heads from a wreck in Australia. The cams can be
purchased from MRT. I have changed the setup over to solid lifter
using 2.5 parts. The early WRX cams are not compatible with 2.5 heads
as the heads do have differences in thrust faces for the camshafts. I
believe you can run the V-5 cams in the 2.5 heads. I don't have a set
of 2.5 heads around here, but I did look at a pair and it looks like
the ports are raised in the WRX, vs the 2.5, so if you go with WRX
heads, you will also need the intake/exhaust manifolds. I bought all
of this from the wreck.
So there you go, but I don't think he has got it in a car yet...
