I was running some errins for my mum in her car (1995 Impreza coupe, Terquoise) she's sick with a bad cold, groceries, dropping off her timesheet for work ect. When I came out from the grocery store some twat had done the following on the car in the snow.
on the trunklid.. "DIE SUBARU" on the roof "BUY A PONTIAC BUY DOMESTIC F..UCKER"
I'm sick of the redneck idots that live around here!! And belive me, working where I do, I get to see the creme of the crop from the domestic lovers. Some guys won't even talk to me to buy parts because they see my Subaru parked outside!! I give credit to some domestic vehicles, but many fo them are poorly assembled, and when tits like this guy are associated with them, it's one more reason NOT to buy one.
That's enough of my venting... I just hope this inbred retard dosn't decide to do anything stupid to my mum's car, I mean no damage was done. But the car is terquoise and if some hillbilly has a hardon for it, who knows what'll happen next!
not to mention that my car has SUBARU written in big letters across the hood! White on a Black car so it really stands out!

Foreign car haters are misinformed. There's no such thing as a foreign or domestic car anymore - they are all multi-national. They're assembled from parts made all over the world, and very little other than a final assembly is done in the US. That's true of domestic cars just as much as foreign cars.
And now, there is so much cross-breading between makers that you have Jaguars and Fords rolling out with common parts. Go figure! Now if only our red necks were a bit less inbred.....

It's indeed funny that they'd tell you to buy Pontiac, because GM now owns a reasonable portion of Subaru.
All US Legacies are built in the US, in Indiana's SIA plant. The "cool" ones built in the Yajima plant go to everyone but North America.
US Imprezas and Foresters are still shipped over on a boat.

On top of that, if the radios are built in Taiwan, and the seats are built in Korea, does it really matter where the you snap the last few parts together? From what I understand, "final assembly" does not amount to much in the whole big picture.
The fact is, whether you are buying a Dodge or a Toyota or a Harley, most of the manufacturing jobs were in neither Japan nor US, the marketing and sales jobs you're supporting are in the US, the engineering was done all over the world, and the stockholders who stand to make money off owning the company are from all over the world too.
Old distinctions don't apply.

The company I work for builds crankshaft superfinishing machines that are sold to ford and GM to be used on the production lines. Their cranks run through our machines prior to getting installed into the motor. Two of our machines sold this year were shipped to GM plants OUTSIDE the U.S. One in Canada and the other in Mexico. hummmm........very interesting.......

Re: Venting about hillbilly domestic lovers
I think you should bury the hatchet with this guy, go buy a Pontiac Vibe, since that car is 100% American!!!inzomniac wrote:"BUY A PONTIAC BUY DOMESTIC F..UCKER"
Who cares what's made where? We like Subarus because they're a well-built car that is fun to drive and can take abuse, that's ultimately what it boils down to...
Maybe you should bury the hatchet where it belongs! in this idiots skull where he will not experiance any pain or sensation whatsoever. I recently was going to park at a business where the parking lot was shared with the I.B.E.W International Brotherhood of Electrical workers that I once was a member of and was suprized to see large signs saying "Foreign made autos are not welcome". Perhaps these people should have paid more attention to the job they were doing that almost destroyed the US auto industry in the 1970-80's by producing some of the worst vehicles ever to hit the road and even made the Yugo and the Le Car look like good alternatives to some.
