Doing up EJ22E/EJ22T hybrid intake.. help?

This has been discussed before I think but I need some assistance because I can't find anything on the subject and It's a little difficult for me to guess at parts on.

Course my wagon had the standard EJ22E in it, it now has the EJ22T without T and has been running the last two years without a turbocharger - well come this December 14th-January 4th I'm going to be putting the stocker on.

I need some tips on finishing the intake, coming from the airbox/MAF (which I want to keep in place) and going to the turbocharger; then from the turbocharger to the AWIC which I'll have in place (I've cleared places to mount it)
and from that to the throttle body of course, somewhere along the lines I need to wire in a bypass valve (I don't have one, any suggestions?)
and tie my PCV valve and all that other vac-related stuff into the intake pre-turbocharger.


Please offer any tips or suggestions, if you know of hoses or equipment I can buy which will simplify most of this (hoses which I don't have to cut on too much) that would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be running the stock N/A ECU and injectors, leaving the turbocharger at wastegate boost; I've been told this is the max for the injectors and ECU to handle (5PSI) so I should be okay untill I've got autronic under the hood too.

You could use the samco hose to go from the turbo to the AWIC. It works, and has minimal cutting. Have you seen my install pics?

There's a thread around here with info on part # and where I got it from.

Do you plan to tap the IAC valve hose pre or post turbo? You will run into issues if it's pre turbo as the manifold pressure will bleed backwards through the valve. The turbo manifold has a notch for a check valve. There's some pics on this page

I figure I'd do it post turbo since the bleed back problem, I'm using the EJ22E intake manifold obviously because I wasn't running the turbo at the time (and the different injectors/etc)


The problem is I sold my turbo IAC valve at one time like a fool, and not for a whole lot of money either (maybe $20 or so) and to use such a valve one would need the intake manifold, which doesn't work without changing a bunch of stuff up - I figured post turbo would be easiest.

I wasn't aware there would be any space restrictions, I know the turbo IAC has a feed port that goes upwards but I didn't notice a issue with clearance when I test fitted everything up.

edit: repeating myself a bit.

what did you do for inlet turbo to airbox? I don't have that factory connection, my stock intake would fit somewhat if I did some cutting but I wasn't sure about doing that.

also, what type of samco hose, part number? I think TCS22 would look closest, but I'm not sure.

silly me, I didn't read your reply all the way through - I was busy on Friday working and such at the same time :(

TCS22 from searching appears to be the correct hose; they're approaching $100 either due to lack of demand or extensive demand.

I got to looking at it again today and the angle of the IAC valve leads me to believe that I won't have a problem.

All that's left to clear up is getting something from the airbox to the turbocharger, some header wrap, getting the downpipe tapped for the O2 sensor, and finding all the gaskets I need for the exhaust + vac lines I'll need to do rerouting :(

Are you using the stock turbo up-pipe, etc? Is the turbo going to sit in the same place as the factory one? If so, I'd just use the stock stuff.

correct, it's going to use the stock placement with the stock mounting bracket, I'm curious about the clearance to the N/A intake manifold runner; they look to be a little different but I can't tell how much.

if there's no clearance problem, I'll just use the N/A manifold since that's less work, and I'll route the IAC line to post turbo and probably tie it into the same line that I'll use the air bypass valve for.

If there IS a clearance problem then I need to know:
- Will the N/A IAC bolt up to the turbo intake manifold? (I don't have the turbo IAC)
- Will the N/A injectors fit in the turbo intake manifold fuel rails?

These, good questions they be.

just ordered a TCS22 samco hose from brits inc, they don't have it. 4-6 weeks for delivery, I need it by the 14th >:(

Really bad timing for me I guess.

Yeah, getting the hose takes a bit of time. I had to order mine from overseas.

I'm not sure if you'll have any clearance issues.

The n/a IAC will bolt up to the turbo intake manifold.

You can just swap the entire n/a fuel rail and put it on the turbo intake manifold, as the injectors are different.
