WTB ’92+ Headlight Connectors (H4 style)

Post by All_talk »

I need the ‘92+ style connectors that plug in to the headlight bulbs. These are the ones that are held in by the wire bale and have the big rubber gasket on the back of the light (H4 style bulb). I’m converting to EDM headlights on my ’91 (pre-face) and apparently Europe had already switched to the later bulb style by ’91, so my stock plugs wont fit (9004 style). I’d like as much wire left on them as possible to make the splice.

You can buy a pair of H4 heavy duty connectors with rubber boots at Autozone for $10. They have wires attached that you could splice into your wiring harness, replacing your existing 9004 connectors.

If you want to make a plug and play adapter, so that you don't have to hack up your wiring harness, you can buy the sockets that mate with your 9004 plugs at rallylights.com (page seems to be down at this moment). You want two of the CP9004CM (9004/9007 Male Plug), their about $5 each, plus shipping.

I made such as adapter for my EDM lights and it works perfectly. This would allow me to easily return the car to stock, if necessary, in just a few minutes by removing the rare glass headlights and replacing the stock ones.

The only thing better than the plug and play adapter would be a dual relay harness with heavy duty wiring, to bypass the stock wiring harness and deliver the full rated voltage to the headlights. I'm making one, but it's not yet finished.
