hi all,
so a couple months ago, my 92ss started misfiring. Found the #1 cylinder plug was loose which looked like caused it to run hot upon inspection of the plugs.
So i changed all 4 plugs and cranked her up and still misfire.
Changed the wires and still misfire.
Changed the coilpack and still misfire.
Spark is coming out of the coilpack side as well as the sparkplug side on the wires.
Injectors all seem to be firing properly. I swapped out #1 with #3 and didn't change at all. I ran the car and pulled the injector wires one by one and the engine would start idling worse when i did that . (even on cylinder #1)
I checked the spark plugs and #1 cylinder (the one that was loose in the beginning) hasn't seem to sparked at all although the wires are all working.
Anyone have ideas?

^^^Yep, and if compression checks out (don't worry about the actually number coming from the gauge, rather check to see if the numbers are all fairly close), then nect check your connectors with a multimeter. You can check both conectors and even the injectors themselves. On my Legacy, I originally had a bad injector, cracked knock sensor, some bad grounds, and a bad coil pack. Most was found with either a multimeter or visual inspection.Arctic Assassian wrote:check compression.

When I was troubleshooting a similar problem I grabbed a spair spark plug and clamped a vice grip down onto it. This let the plug ground to the intake manifold and I had a helper turn the car over watching for spark.
Can you tell us the symptoms of the misfire? If you explain what its doing one of us might recognize it.
