Metal Filings in Oil

Post by LegacyT »

Just did an oil change and found metal filings in the oil! The engine has been running fine. I'm concerned since it only has 250K Km's on it and I've always taken care of the motor (full synthetic oil and good quality filters). Whats the most common cause for filings in an EJ22T??

Thanks,
Mark

if it was rod knock he would hear it...

so unless you hear a loud knocking (like a tiny elf with a hammer in your engine), then you probably just need to get some new oil. better quality stuff. and i'd recommend a 10w-40.

Nah, why BS? Maybe the person had tuned each motor to destruction while using Mobil 1 :-D It can happen you know ;)

OTOH, there is a forum out there who state that Mobil 1 sucks based on analysis test. Well, which ever. Internet BS is BS however you cut it.
