Stuck In Park.
Hey, here lately my car will take fits and wont come out of park. THe previous owner said somethin about tightening a nut or somethin down in the little hole infront of the shifter column. I think this is where the override switch is. When i put my foot on the brake i can hear a loud clicking noise thru the shifter, like its trying to engage. Usually if i just wait a few minutes, it will come out of park. IS there any way this could be a relay going bad?

Re: Stuck In Park.
it's probably the solenoid sticking. We've got a 96 wagon in the shop with the same issue.courtjesterclown wrote:Hey, here lately my car will take fits and wont come out of park. Hole? I'm not that familiar with the automatics, but I thought it was a little button at the front of the shifter trim. I wonder if a previous owner messed with it already.
No, it won't cause any harm to the car aside from making it possible to shift without the key and without the brake pressed.

I've seen it both ways.vrg3 wrote:Hole? I'm not that familiar with the automatics, but I thought it was a little button at the front of the shifter trim. I wonder if a previous owner messed with it already.

my older ones 90 and 92 both had a button sticking out.
my current 94 has no button, it has a rubber plug in the hole instead.
