well my manifold is cracked pretty good and leaking. Well just checkin my options for what i could do. i dont know if any exhaust shop would try to weld the cast iron manifold. so i am down to trying to find another one, which isnt goin to well. So if i cant find one then i will either have to go aftermarket or to the dealer. I called today and they want alot for one so goin aftermarket would end up being cheaper. I just dont have to have to go though the hassle of tuning it and what not. this is my DD so if i were to go aftermarket does anyone know if they are just bolt on to the heads and stock exhaust system and go? thanks

You say cast iron so I assume you have a turbo? If so nearly any WRX header will work.

However your Sig doesnt say turbo and if not the headers are not cast iron. Any header from an NA 90-94 legacy should work.

Where did it crack?

i think they are cast iron, correct me if i am wrong. but it is na. it cracked where the 2 exhaust ports come to one. right at the almost 90* bend goin to the rear, just where the heat shield ends. i am just having trouble finding a stock one.

That whole Y pipe assembly also contains a cat, so you can't get it used (at least here in WA).

I had a thin crack about where you described, an exhaust shop welded/patched it up. It went pretty quick, I could have done it myself if I had a welder.

You wont be able to buy a stock one because its illegal for junk yards to sell it.

Alright well i checked at the dealer and they want a pretty good chunk of cash for one. soo i guess i am goin to remove it and try to weld it up. I am just alittle worried about tryin to weld it off the car. So i guess just tack it in a few places then remove and finish welding. I got a cool trick that should work for the time being, at least something to get me by untill i get a few days off to do it. well thanks ciper, i didnt understand why junk yards wont even have a listing, makes sense. by the way how did you find that out?

don't weld it on the car unless you want to replace every piece of electronics on there.

This is what I've always been told, but remove it.

well i would need to tack it soo i dont really have much choice. If i take it off and just try to line of marks i would make with a pen or something i have a feeling that it would be on and off alot of times. I could just disconnect the battery but i dont really think you have too.
Have you ever watched a exhaust shop do some welding? I have done some myself on my camaro, and went to start it up and no problems for 3 months. so i wouldnt be too worried about it.

Build a jig for it, tack it on the jig and test fit again. I've always believed what scuzzy said.

You can weld it on the car if you want. If you feel sketchy about it, disconnect the battery. I have welded plenty of stuff on cars. But I would rather have it off to get a good weld over a crappy weld.

true, but a few little tacks and then remove to finish it up i think would be the fastest way. Being that it is maybe 10 degrees outside right now if that, i dont really wanna spend too much time on it.

got some, with heated garage's but no 220, my dads house has 220 but no heat, mine house has no heat with 110, but space is alittle cramped at my house. i guess i will just have to see what i can do. thanks for the help.

Well i got 220 in my basement for the dryer buy i dont think i really wanna weld over the carpet, rental house. If i did own it i would be all over it.

Turbo manifold wouldnt work with the cross member and wouldnt connect to the mid pipe either.

If anything you would have a better chance with an exhaust manfold from a 2.5 liter subaru between 96-2001 or so since it would almost be the right shape.

i was thinkin about that, i have bought almost all the parts to boost my gfs subie sooo they could all go on mine insted? but i would still need the crossmember, and emanage.
