Why oh why did they change shifters??
I had learned the hard way (by purchasing a MikeY. custom shifter) that the '92 and '93 do not share the same shifter assembly. NOW Im really mad.......

Ah well, I would drive with my boot off just so I could look at it while I drive

What year is that supposedly meant for?
If it's just the shifter lever, you can replace the linkage. I highly doubt the b&m unit you'd get for the legacy looks like what is in the picture.
Bottom line is you can use any newer style shifter if you're willing to replace the linkage & joint with a newer unit.

Info says its for MY'93 and up, so should work on anyone who has the MikeY lever installed. Im sure its not the same unit. I know I can do a full swap from the boss to the lever, just not in my plans at the moment. I just thought it was cool. What I wish I could get is a ball bearing shift kit. I tried one on a buddies Mach1 and it was perfect. Would work great with a crash or dog box tranny.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I was thinking that the more precise shift points would make managing one of those transmission types a bit easier.New92 wrote: Would work great with a crash or dog box tranny.

The 97-05 5MT bushings will fit and all the rear bushings are the same. Keep in mind these are the stay bar bushings. They will help a lot with slop but if your linkage bushings are shot it will still be floppy. Linkage bushings can be gotten at subaru.

Any industrial or plastics supplier. It's basically nylon that tolerates exposure to water better. It's pretty easy to machine, reasonably hard with good wear characteristics, and low friction. You may even be able to find a cutting board to make bushings out of since it might be FDA approved for food use, though I know HDPE is and they use that for cutting boards and processing plants. Unfortunately, you wouldn't want HDPE for bushings.
If you come across colored (red, green, dark blue, etc.) HDPE no thicker than 1/4" (though preferably 1/8 ), let me know - I need some to build a coffee maker I designed, but all I can find is damned white and sometimes black.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
