I'll know more by Monday. They drew blood this morning to run tests. However they think my chronic headaches are an orthapedic issue, which I already knew. I forked my c5 cervical vertebrae in a bad way when I rolled my car in '97. Back then they told me it would only be a matter of time before I needed the joint fused. This recent turn of events is making me start to think addressing it sooner rather than later is warranted...

My uncle had that done to his back years ago. I guess they said that today they can do something different that wouldn't decrease his flexibility as much (he does exotic metal welding for industrial and military contracts so he sometimes has to maneuver inside and around things). I can't remember what the procedure is and it may not apply to your case, but I figure I'd mention it. Good luck with the tests and everything.

They have started to use urethane shims to replace decomposed disc material. It may be one of the option I have open to me. It used to be the only option was to suck out the leftover disc and fuse the two vertabrae together with rods. The problem is that not only do you sacrifice range of motion, but it stresses the next joint in line and usually means another disc goes bad in 20 years or so. With my lifestyle, I can't do that. I need to be able to run and jump and be free. 8) I've have been deliberately waiting in hopes that technology would catch up to my body...

Yeah, that's the problem my uncle has. I know he ended up doing a little bit different work after the operation and his back is bothering him again. I think it has been about 20 years now that you mention that.
