Guess this could probably go in the Engine section, but this is more of a bitch session than a question or answer.
I set forth to remove my engine this morning. I need to replace the head gaskets, so I got a complete engine gasket kit... timing belt kit.. and thermostat. Oil and all that jazz, set a goal to have the motor out before dark today. This isnt the 1st motor I've pulled, this would be the 5th. However, this is the first EJ i've ever pulled. Regardless, how much harder can it be?
WELL ITS ALOT FUCKING HARDER!! What the hell is with all these hidden hoses? Seems they are all made out of fine china. I must have broken 4 or 5 hoses for the PCV system. Ontop of that, there is a web of wiring running every which way, tangled with fuel lines, vacuum lines, other wires. AND ALL THE GODDAMN CONNECTIONS ARE BOLTED TO THE BLOCK!?!?!?! ARGH. Yeah, alot of those connectors are now broken.
So, after about 4 hours of playing in the garage, I am way behind on my goal. I managed to get the radiator removed. Removed the power steering pump and A/C compressor and put those off to the side. Then the last 2 hours of the day was spent fucking with the intake manifold. FINALLY i got that removed.
So here it is, saturday night. Tomorrow is sunday and I was hoping to have the heads off the car so I can find a shop to machine them for me. Chances are i wont have the heads off until tomorrow night, then it will be too late. And Im sure there will be no machine shops open Monday or Tuesday thanks to new years. So im faced with a decision... do I just replace the gaskets and put the heads back on? Or do I wait until the middle of the week and have the heads shaved?
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA you suck.
I remember my first subaru..... It was back in 1989, with a 1977 DL, it was a MONTH from start to finish to replace the clutch and heads....
The second time was a day.

Walk away for a bit, drink a beer (or whatever), and come back and just "look" at the engine again. Follow stuff around. Look at it from different angles.

Naw i know what to do. Just sucks that everything breaks when I touch it.
I have it to a point, where tomorrow I just have to unbolt the motor from the trans. I guess I have to unbolt the TC from the flexplate too, motor mounts then just lift it out. Thats when the real fun begins.
