Opinions on '93 Legacy Touring Turbo AWD Wagon

Post by abracc »

As the title says, I would like to know if any of you have an opinion about the 1993 Legacy Touring Turbo AWD Wagon? There is one for sale near me that looked in pretty good exterior and interior shape that has 148,000 miles on it. The guy selling it says he just put a new starter and alternator in it and it may need some new tires...but that everything else works in it. I haven't driven it yet though. He's asking $1800. I appreciate your time...thanks again for all your help.

Um... You may want to search... and look through some threads...

We all like out Legacy Turbos around here.... Wagons and Sedans...

But yea, search is your friend... and just flipping through the forums randomly...

Maybe I should rephrase my question and ask if there is anything I should be looking for? Any issues, etc....

Oh!!!

Sorry... I thought you were asking what we thought of them... Its like uh, well we, uh really like out Subarus...

In that case...

Maintenance Records- how often oil was changed etc.

Timing Belt? When was it last changed?

Tranny? How has it been maintained? Any slippage?

You will notice that when you drive it...

Axles? Have they been serviced, I mainly mean CV Boots and the like...

Most likely when you get it you will want to go through and change all fluids just to make sure...

Sorry about the misunderstandin... (Im on Percoset, rolled my car).

Hope that helps and best wishes on the new acquisition!

No problem on the misunderstanding. My message probably wasn't phrased right for this forum. Only problem is that he doesn't have any maint. records.

Didn't notice any issues with the tranny when I drove it.

I'm going to take it to a mechanic or the local Suby dealer to have it inspected before I buy it. I would hope they would check the other things such as the CV boots, etc.

I will change the fluids, plugs if and when I decide to get it. Don't know much on the turbo though. Had a 90 plain legacy a long time ago. So I know I will be on this forum a lot if I purchase this.

I saw your thread on the accident. Glad you made it out okay....gotta love the security and safety of the car...

Make sure you run a carfax... Especially because it has no maintenance records...

Got a carfax. No issues at all on the thing. Question though for WA residents...it shows a title/registration issued almost every year. Only a couple show a new owner. Didn't know if WA had something different where they report every year when you get a new tag or property tax sticker, etc. Thanks!

*sigh* wish I only paid $1800 for my 94 wagon. Already put in a shitload of money ($6K) to get it to a running state after everything went bad on it; and it's still mostly stock!

Hey that is pretty cool. Welcome to the club. I am in the KC area so we aren't too awfully far apart. If the car spent alot of it's life in WA it shouldn't have any rust on it. I went up there to pick up my carbecause of that. No rust, but alot of othercosmetic damage.
