Starting a EJ20G - OUTSIDE THE CAR!

Post by BXSS »

I have a WRX EJ20G swap that I would like to start up outside the car.

I have all engine wiring & sensors, other than coolant, fuel in/out, & powering up the harness what else has to be done (I'm thiking the clutch switch will have to be grounded or something like that for the engine to crank).

My friends do this with other motors (ka24, & sr20 swaps & old school carb'd I4s & V8s ) fairly regularly....

yeah, I plan on doing that to my RA 20G because its a little unknown at this point and we dont feel like splitting the block.

dont really need to ground the clutch switch, just jumper the starter. I am not going to do coolant, or if I do I will just loop it back to itself no rad. Just want to start it long enough to hear rod knock or whatever. Oil looks good, so does top end so I really dont see problems.

I was planning on looping the coolant hoses as well.

So connecting all sensors, + & - to the ECU, Fuel in/out, & jumping the starter should get it to turn on?
