Igniter for Diamond coil

Post by 92 ra-r »

Last weekend turned out pretty well at the Pull-a-Part! I got a Diamond coil, newer plug wires and the igniter all for less than $35. I took the igniter just to be on the safe side, and I figured it might be an advantage to wire it in with the same coil from the same car. Issues that I see are it is missing one wire when compared to the stock 92 SS igniter. I remember comparing them briefly when I got home and noticed it was a wire in the middle, but did not note the colour. Is it an advantage to have the igniter and the coil, or will the Diamond coil be just fine with the stock 92 igniter? I guess I could do a wiring diagram search, but I need to find one for a 98 Outback 2.5 DOHC first. Anyone up for some wiring challenge help?

It doesn't matter which ignitor you use.

That extra wire in the middle is a power supply that isn't needed, so don't worry about it.
