Stuff..just some general questions..
Ok..hmm, just wanted to know a couple things that have been discused, and i
either forgot the answer, or it was never really answered with a definate yes
or no.
ok.
All these questions pertain to US models
First Topic:
The guy in Europe who has been doing fiberglass hoods with scoop and vents...
ANY responce on Price? i mean does he live in a hole somewhere? does he have
a Phone #? i really want one, and it's been almost 2 months..? i don't
remeber a price being mentioned.
Second Topic:,
Which year legacy turbo had slotted or vented brake rotors? i'm sure it's the
91 but i just want to make sure.. Is it straight Bolt up. no modification? Do
i need to buy calipers as well? are they bolt on, no modification? i know i'm
gonna need 15'' rims or bigger to mount.
3rd topic:,
Some one on this list was commenting on bolting up a OLD XT-4, or loyale
Turbo to a legacy.. and burning it out into slag. Now i understand the basic
consepts of turbo chargeing a car.. I know all the plumbing, and i know i'm
gonna have to run oil lines, but what else..?
Here my reason for asking..
I've come into yet another Subaru.. it's a 91 subaru legacy NON turbo, AWD. I
have accsess to ALOT of old turbo's (1985-1990) outa xt-4, and loyales. i
want some thing i can just tool around with, DO SOME Experimenting,,i could
care less if it blows up, and really i plan on running it into the ground, so
i don't want any "you wouldn't be able to do that safely, without hurting the
engine" crap.
Alot of these cars i can pull the turbo's from are Carberated, alot are fuel
injected motors.. I know i'll need a Turbo ECU from a legacy.. but what else,
I know i can reliably get like 4-5 pounds of boost from each one, I wanna try
to drop one in a cheaply as possiable and modify as little as possiable,
kinda make it as bolt on as possiable so that if i do slag a turbo,, i can
just put a new one on.. i can pick them up for like 35-40 bucks..
My main project is to try to drop one in. and then try to sqeeze 1 in on each
side, theres plenty of room, on each side of the engine. WOOHOO..
So with that said.. if you had to make a parts list what would you include in
it?
*updates*
Still refineing my quad head lamp model, really hard makeing a life size car
part outta clay,
also..
i'm still offering fiberglass hoods my self..
they range between 280.oo-350.oo* US dollars. and useually that inculdes
shipping.
(*= depends on parts prices, and 5 other people in on a group purchace.other
wise ther range between 500.oo-650.oo individually.. oh and shipping prices

Stuff..just some general questions..
Well I can answer second topic. There is no year legacy or turbo legacy that came with slotted rotors. However I believe 91 and up turbo legacies have vented rotors the whole way around, and all legacies have vented rotors up front. The turbo legacies have a slightly larger rotor and have two smaller pistons in the caliper rather than one larger one. The two smaller pistons, help improve brake force and the distribution over the pad.

Stuff..just some general questions..
I can probably help on the second and third. The engine, wheels,
brakes all except the transmission on My '95 Imprezza came from a '94
legacy turbo wagon and had vented rotors and I think that someone
mentioned that all the turbo Legacy wagons had vented rotors.
I don't remember mentioning it on this board but my first idea on the
car was a n/a engine and a turbo kit that would mount a Loyale turbo
to a 2.2 n/a engine. I have seen this done and it does pretty well if
the boost doesn't get much above 8lbs then the pistons crush. I still
have this kit and want to sell it. It has a good Loyale turbo and the
uppipe that bolts up to the original Y pipe on the n/a Legacy Engine
and saves changing the front crossmember as that project is a real
pain.
You would have to run oil lines like you said and water lines and
would really be just as well off with the n/a ECU and a boost
controllor of sorts. Funny you would mention one on each side that
idea has been rolling around here for sometime. My thought was to
make
a throttle body ala SVX and have a turbo feed each port.

i don't want any "you wouldn't be able to do that safely, without hurting the
engine" crap.
WOOHOO..
So with that said.. if you had to make a parts list what would you include in
it?
*updates*
Still refineing my quad head lamp model, really hard makeing a life size car
part outta clay,
also..
i'm still offering fiberglass hoods my self..
they range between 280.oo-350.oo* US dollars. and useually that inculdes
shipping.
(*= depends on parts prices, and 5 other people in on a group purchace.other
wise ther range between 500.oo-650.oo individually.. oh and shipping prices
vary..)

Stuff..just some general questions..
#2. None. 10.9 front vented, 10.5 rear vented on the Turbo. All
disc on all Legacies till 95.
#3. 4-5 lbs is what the RS guys are getting reliably without
injector, fuel system and timing issues causing detonation and bad
situations.
You won't need a Turbo Legacy ECU. A friend of mine has an EJ22T in
a 96 Impreza Brighton with only a CEL and odd idle. Otherwise it
runs up to 10PSI before the weak fuel pump starves the injectors. A
simple boost controller is all you'll need.

I think that a few 100 ohm risistors in place of the solenoids and
possibly a small voltage applied to the pressure sensor input would
cure the CEL and idle

1989 and on in NZ. I just sent my rotors into a engineering shop and
they slotted them on a milling machine.
