A drive up the Angeles Crest
Just north of LA there's a pretty fun mountain road that goes nowhere. There's a restaurant/bar, hiking and camping, and some closed ski areas but the highway just goes up there about 50 miles and dead ends. My friends and I have a tendency to go up there mostly because it's the closest place to go out for a fun drive. Tonight we went up there and it was really foggy and cold and I managed to take a couple of neat pictures.
Like this one:
It got even more foggy right after that and we decided to take a picture of ourselves standing around looking cold:
End of the road:
And snow. In Southern California:
okay well we are at like 7000ft so that might have something to do with it.
There's a tunnel up there:
Which was really creepy. Especially with the car and flashlights off.
It looked kind of like that:
Then I had my friend stand still with a flashlight for 15 seconds:
And we took some other pictures:
Then we started joking around about cougars and how this would make a great start for a horror movie and decided to move on.
Here's a ski hill:
And that's about it for that trip. When it's clear and you go up to Mt. Wilson it looks like this:
Here's the gallery I made with more pictures:

Here's an old google map I made with some other pictures.

Wow. That looks amazing.
+1 on the tunnel looking creepy.
This picture makes it looks like zombies are about to walk out of the tunnel. Like they're going to come out of that fog. I don't know why, but it does. Hahahaha.

Nice. Looks terrific. You must have a good camera to get those night shots.
93SS 5MT White, TD05-16G, TMIC, 3"Turboback, Magnaflow, Alu Rad, H&R Sports, AGX struts, F/R STBs, Whiteline Sways, ALK+Endlinks, Odyssey 925, AC delete, Evo8 Recaros, Sparco 4p, 3.9 LSD, Hellas+air horns, IPD short throw, 99RSrims, s03's
Thanks. it's a Canon S3 IS, which is about as good as you can get before going into DSLR territory. They're only like $250 these days since the S5 came out.
I really was past the limit of that camera though. it only takes 15s max exposures so I had to really bump up the ISO setting on a lot of those which made them grainy.
Here are a few more from up there:
These are from a pullout farther down and the top of Mt. Wilson a few months ago:
Full tele with a 12x optical zoom. Probably needed a lower iso setting:

I took all those in manual mode with as low of an iso setting as the light would allow. So a couple were 15s exposure with the aperture wide open and ISO400/800.
I think the ski hill was a 10s exposure at ISO100 with f/2.7
The EXIF data is in the gallery but doesn't say the iso setting.

I agree with the other Mike. Either of those pictures with the light behind your car are amazing.
