I finally had my NA 2.2 EJ22 heads ported and polished last week, as
well as compression altered to suit 97.5+ octane.
The result has been great!
Where i was first getting to about 80km/h in second gear (5 speed,
not sure if that was really good for the NA) i am now getting to
100km/h (approx 60 mph) with only a pod filter, air induction and a
hi-flow cat back 2.25inch exhaust.
It has added approximately 15KW. (approx 20HP)
Am much happier now. (for a NA) Much better accelleration and
smoother power throughout the rev. range.
I know i should just turbo it! But my aim is to actually do
everything i can without turbo's. Hopefully an easy 200hp, then sell
and buy a RS Liberty. (Aus. spec.)
Next i am having my headers custom cut and widened to run to the cat,
hopefully to complete the exhaust, as well as installing a bigger cam.
Can recommend the port and polish to any NA owners out there looking
for a bit more power, definately worth while!!!

George-I have an NA motor that I`m upgrading & was wondering who did you head work & the approximate cost (US). Also, do you have a source for custom cam profiles? Even though I`m in the States, I`d certainly consider your sources if they`re reasonable & quick; pls advise-thanks--ROD (No. Az.)

NA 2.2 heads - ported and polished
Rod - to have basically any engine ported and polished costs
generally about $400 Aus. from anywhere in Brisbane or the Gold
Coast. But over there probably a similar price, as it basically
consists of labour. It took one guy about 4-5 hours to diss-assemble
port and polish the two heads and assemble again, but everywhere you
go they just have a flat rate of $400. There is a cam shop in
Brisbane where i live that apparently specialises in subies, i am
going to call them next week, so will find out prices and specs, so
i'll fill you in with the details if you want.
