WRX catback on 91 turbo...bolt on or needs fittment?

Post by macipusy »

Just wanted to know which model car is the most compatible in the exhaust area. I would like to do the least amount of custom fitting.

You would half to make an extension for anything coming off of a wrx/sti/impreza or any after market piece for them. Im pretty sure...

Is it just a matter of extending the midpipe?...how about the mounting points....do the hangers line up close enough?

you need to make a 9.5" piece of pipe with flanges to go between the mid pipe and muffler pipe, the hangers might need slight modification

mine required just over 6.75" from flange to flange of extension. I originally had a Invidia DP to an sti catback and then swapped to a Bosal twin tip.

This is what my extension looks like.

This is the muffler position

I had to use the long Kartboy hangers to get it low enough to fit. Only the rear hangers line up. You will have to bend the 3rd muffler hanger out of the way or cut it off. It does not line up with the BC hanger, as ours is much more to the drivers side. Finally the midpipe hanger is ~2" too far back to line up. If you wanted to use this you would have to make an extension between the dp to midpipe and the mid to muffler. Hope this helps at all

Precisely the reason why it shouldn't be used for comparison to stock WRX/STi exhaust...

Well, I know that my "ej20/ej22t" headers dont quite fit without modification...

I'm going to have to re angle the pipe that the turbo sits on, it just puts it too close to my engine. my turbo actually touches the pressure control valve before it's attatchable.

it's all "doable" but most likely with modification. Subaru isn't as bad as ford, atleast most things will work with little or mild modification.
