I broke the nipple off of mine to! My fix was to get a brass fitting, I
believe it had a pipe thread or maybe just machine thread with a hose barb
on the other side. I just reamed out the hole in the tank to accept the
fitting, put a dab of Permatex on the threads and screwed it into place,
almost two years ago now. I also bought a new replacement tank "just in
case" and probably will install it at the same time as the intercooler.

In trying to fit the blasted intercooler last night, i finally
snapped the top two fittings from mine.
Thankfully i had a JC aluminum tank (20 miles away, at home). It fit
right in, has probably 2x the capacity, and looks pretty cool.
One thing i did notice is that the plastic in the hose coming from
the turbo was falling to bits as i tried to pick it from the inside
of the hose. Nasty.

This is a comon fault that subaru felt they needed to change to ally header
tanks, i have an impreza one now not hard to fit .
