starter

Post by what huh »

so i call all over town and because of my stupid state(MD) nobody carries subaru parts. And just when i thought all hope was lost i found a starter. To say the least i was happy :-D . And then the guy goes to ring me up and say, " OK we have a legacy 2.2 front wheel drive starter." and then i asked him if there was a AWD option to that starter and he said "NO" So my question is . . .

Will a starter that goes to a manual 2.2 fwd car work on my AWD 2.2t Legacy?

Is it a Subaru starter(new one)? If it is, what is the part number?

If your car's a manual, yes.

Cool.

Depending where in MD you are and how much time/energy you have, you might also check out Crazy Ray's:

In addition, the starter part numbers for the 4wd and 2wd manual and manual, are the same. Should work for you.

I've been to the yards in Baltimore, Jessup, and Mt. Airy. Mt. Airy has relatively few imports, but last time I was there there were a couple of 1st-gen Legacies and several newer Subarus. Baltimore's got a little bit more, but the Jessup yard is probably the best bet for people like us.

A tip I'd offer is to go on a weekday; in my experience they're a lot nicer. And if it's rained at all in recent memory, be prepared for a lot of mud.

Where in Maryland are you?
