Motor Mounts that wont line up....
When trying to drop my motor back in my car today, the mounts wont fall into the crossmember. It looks like the studs are about an inch too far forward?
Im almost positive I have the mounts on the right sides, but I cant find any images to show me. And the R - L is missleading, as im not sure if they mean right side while looking at the front or rear of the motor.
Anyone have any tips?

The mounts should only be easy to mount on the correct side. At least when I put new motor mounts on I accidentally tried to put the L on the R and there was no way it was going to go on without cutting it up.
I sort of had the same problem. I just lowered the engine enough to let the studs sit on the crossmember. Then I tried to push it as close as I could. Then once I did all that I got under the car and used a flathead screwdriver and a rubber mallet to push the studs into the holes...

I find it easy to just lightly set the studs on the crossmember using a cherry picker/engine hoist; then I can generally wrestle them into place just by grabbing ahold of the engine and shaking it/pushing/tilting/etc.

What I do is set them just about on the crossmember, but not touching, then get one of them in by pushing the stud with a large open end wrench and tilt the engine so that it goes in. Then I thread the nut on a little, lower the engine a little more and adjust the sliding bar I have for the crane as necessary and do the other side.

Unbolt the bolt from the tranny to the frame 9whatever its called). then you can shove the entire block/tranny back. It Works!

I dont wanna unbolt anything else cause im sure after i get the motor in the crossmember, it will be a pain in the ass to get that bolt back in :\
I guess there's no other way tho. I just wanted to make sure i didnt put the L mount on the R side of the block. I dont think i have.

I highly doubt you did. Like I said, it wouldn't bolt up easily to the incorrect side.TheSubaruJunkie wrote:I dont wanna unbolt anything else cause im sure after i get the motor in the crossmember, it will be a pain in the ass to get that bolt back in :\
