94 NA to turbo Auto tranny swap?

Post by McFrosty »

I currently have a 94 GT wagon with an AT. It now has a turbo motor pushing 170 whp. The original N/A tranny just went out and I want to upgrade to the turbo AT (4EAT). Do I need to swap out the rear end? According to the sticky on final drive gear ratios, they are the same. But I also read that the turbo rear end is like a 3.545 and or something. And the transmission has a step down gear of 1.10 to get the final of 3.90.

I just want to leave my rear diff alone If I can.

The 91-94 turbo legacies have a 3.90 final drive ratio of 3.90, and no step down gear. Same goes for your n/a trans.

To my knowledge ONLY the 2002+ USDM WRX transmissions have the 1.1:1 stepper gear.
