Refinishing my wheels, looking for feed back

Post by All_talk »

I’m refinishing the Prodrive P1 wheels I bought (PO panted them a very ugly green). My first thought was silver cause the stock alloys and my silver WRX wheels look very good on the car. But I wouldn’t mind a little more drama with the wheels, so I’m thinking darker center with a silver lip. Check the photochop pics bellow (I photochoped cause I dont have tires yet) and let me know what you think.

I'm really liking the dark w/silver lip because of the way it works with the chrome strip in the body trim.

So the bottom have my choice.

I think you should go dark but without the lighter lip.

Hmm… I’ve never liked all dark wheels, they seem to make the wheels and tires disappear. And I like the chrome strip in the trim, I think its part of what makes a gen 1 legacy look like a gen 1 legacy. Maybe I’m the weirdo here? :?

Keep the advice coming, maybe I'll paint two of each and see which side of the car I like better. :P

i like the dark center with the SHINY lip.

as for trying one on each side of the car, i am going to put two of one set of WRX wheels on each side of my car so i can try to figure out which ones i want for me and which set to put on my wife's car. :-) :-)

I think if I had a zenki i would be more partial to the chrome... but as it is, the blackout does as much aesthetically as wheels do

FWIW I vote de-chrome w/ silver wheels for the most modern look

but... if you are keeping the chrome, I like the two-tone

I like the chrome stip in the trim. I don't know, it just refines and highlights the lines of the car.

That said, I'm not generally a big fan of two color wheels but that first picture does look really nice. You are using a dark silver accented with a polished silver lip, which is different than say a black wheel with a polished/painted lip.

So yeah, I'm definately voting for the first one.
