Been a while, now with a rough tune, and it looks promising

I haven't been on here much lately. Part of it has been school. The other part was eating my words on head studs. Ripping an inch of threads out of your block isn't cool...

After tansferring everything to another block, with the proper studs, fast forward to today. Drove to P&L Motorsports last night only to have Jorge's(RiftsWRX) wife go into labor last night and him cancelling our appointment for today. I was able to get a couple cheap pulls on their Dynojet though.

This is uncorrected hp on a Dynojet, so take it FWIW. My boost control is all goofed up from my formally internally gated turbo pushing out the actuator arm to about 20 degrees from closed and me tuning around it not knowing what happened. I've since rectified the situation, but haven't had the time to go back through everything. I was running seriously short on boost across the board. It hit about 21psi at spoolup and taperd to about 15 at redline. This turbo isn't happy whatsoever untill its over 20psi so I have it spool to about 27psi and taper to about 22psi at redline, using all my injectors have.(650's)

The basics are:

EJ22T longblock
Wiseco/eagle, balanced
Delta cams, the hot ones
Bastard-child turbo (essentially a GT3071R, but with a 2.7mm smaller turbine wheel, .86 A/R)
TiAL 44mm
650cc Deatchworks injectors (SR20)
Homemade parallel fuel setup using an Aeromotive A1000-6
FMIC
Link Plus G2
Zeitronix

6mt
Hyper Single

Blah blah blah. If you want more details, look here. Note that a few things have changed http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthre ... h+piddster

Anyways, the numbers are promising. With the boost tapering off so badd, the HP pretty much falls on its face. What is surpirising is how the power comes on so early just following the torque. With a serious tuning session, I'm pretty sure that I can make the power not drop 100hp in 2000 rpm. Also, I think there is a lot more torque to be made. The butt dyno said that before. This motor can take some serious boost without whining about it!

Finally, the plot...

Looks good - I'm sure the power-curve will improve when you get it fully tuned.

Was this on pump gas?

Ya just pump gas. I'll finish tuning it on 92 from shell. I've got an appointment on Friday for some dyno time at a shop nearby on their Mustang.

I might get some 1000cc SR20 injectors so I can have another map for E85.

Well, spent some time on the dyno on Saturday. I was having ignition issues so we really couldn't go anywhere with tuning. My plugs might be shot, or the Belkin wires suck, or maybe my coilpack is getting weak. Either way, I need to do some de-bugging before I try again. Once I got up to about 19psi it started missing under load. Also, the plot was REALLY wavy in the same spots on each pull.

The good is that with a little work on timing at 14psi and I was above stock STi power.

So yeah, it still looks promising. I''l just have to wait a week or two before I try again.

Sorry, school has been kicking my butt, and haven't been able to get back on the dyno. I'll post it up as soon as it goes down.
