I'm not exactly the best person to answer this because i don't have a turbo,
but i believe that something similar to this has been covered in the past.
Have you checked the archives yet?

Your solenoid is most likely just not working. Get a manual
controller, it does a better job than the stocker even if it were
working.

Welcome to the gang (Rob?) !

In my opinion, the VERY first thing you should do, is to install a
boost gauge, that is considered a must on these cars (I'm assuming
you don't have one since you're not mentioning any boost figures).

Then, if you notice that there really isn't enough boost all the
time, try with a MBC as Dave suggested, they aren't that expensive
and as he also said, they work a lot better than the stock one. If
the problem with low boost still remains after that, I'd guess your
BOV is leaking, get a new one, they aren't that expensive either, and
very easy to replace.

If there, however, is enough boost all the time, but the car still
refuses to accelerate, I'd bet it's the same thing I had a year ago,
i.e the damn AFM is broken. I broke mine when I put too much oil on a
drop-in performance filter... The AFM is quite expensive, so you
wanna be sure it's broken before you get a new one. Just yesterday I
heard of a guy who had cleaned his AFM with some kinda "brake-cleaner
spray", and got it working !!! I can't recommend it to anyone,
haven't tried it on my broken one yet either, but I sure will.

So, the thing you maybe should start with is the boost gauge, then
perhaps remove the AFM and check if it looks dirty.

Good luck !

Autometer, VDO, Greddy, HKS, Westach, Intellitronix, and APEXi all make
boost gauges; i'm sure there's more, but that's all i can think of right
now.

Help Slow Tegacy Turbo

Post by Jay Erlenbach »

I got mine from Big A Auto parts for about $58 plus
$16 for the mounting cup (Up to $20 now I think). Its
an Autometer Ultra-Lite 2 1/16" gauge with a top end
of 20 PSI.

Installation was a breeze, the hardest part was
getting the back-light power from the instrument
cluster so that it fades with the rest.
I'm pretty sure Dave C still has the guide on his web
site... Thats what I used.

Help Slow Tegacy Turbo

Not sure if this was already answered

Afm is air flow meter, and probably also known as mass air flow
meter...I think
Pcv is the positive crankcase ventalation valve, it is on the passenger
side of the US Legacies, just on the side of the throttle assembly/plate
