Turbosmart MBC setup problem with diagram

Post by redlineracer »

I just bought an Turbosmart MBC and the instructions are quite difficult to understand. So I was wondering if someone can help me out. This MBC comes with a directional tee that points to the wastegate actuator and I dont know if I should use the tee or not or just hook it up directly to the compressor outlet nipple and the wategate actuator nipple. Right now I have it hooked up to the tee and Im only getting 7-8 psi with 2 full turns on the MBC. I didnt want to go any higher or I was fearing blowing something up. I also have my old Perrin EBCS still connected to the electronics but I blocked off the ports with electrical tape. It doesnt throw a CEL but it feels like the wastegate is not opening up at all. Im kinda thinking the wategate actuator isnt working or something.

Do I have this set up right or do I need to put them directly on port? Here's the diagram:

Thanks in advance!

But if I set it up exactly like Matt's and the wastegate doesnt open up, do you think the actuator might be broken? Is there any instances where an actuator has failed or the WG flapper sticks? I might have to check my WG system just to see if there is any play or sticking with the flapper and vacuum test the WG.

IF your car was operating normally before you attempted to hook this thing up then you dont have a stuck wastegate actuator.

First off, the basic design principle of one of these MBC's is to restrict air pressure from reaching the Waste Gate Actuator, thus allowing the WasteGate to stay closed(or almost closed) longer than the OEM solenoid would, building more boost.

So, you basically just hook up the compressor outlet to where ever the inlet to the MBC is, then hook up the outlet of the MBC to the Waste Gate Actuator.

There should also be some kind of bleed valve to let that restricted air pressure out of the line and keep it from building up.

The "t" part of the drawing is correct.

The other fitting on the MBC can be left unplugged or can be connected to the coffee cup (where the stock boost sol. plugged in & bled its boost).

Can someone explain this whole T fitting ish to me?

For my TurboXS MBC, I just took the two lines off the stock solenoid and put the MBC between them. So it goes: compressor outlet--> MBC--> wastegate actuator. It didn't come with a T...
